Since GDPR has been adopted, most music streaming providers are now offering solutions to export user personal data. That data contains various information such as user music library, playlists, but also usage data that can be used in recommendation systems. However, none offers already a system to reverse the process back i.e ingesting GDPR issued data into another music streaming service and thus ensure true portability between services.
Ingesting service-exported data implies to match entities from a given music metadata modeling to a target-defined structure. In our case, the target would be the Deezer music information system, including :
Usage data ingestion.
The objective of this internship is thus to propose a solution for ingesting a GDPR exported data for most relevant music streaming service provider, and matching ingested entities with those already existing in the Deezer ecosystem. The produced solution should be designed in order to be able to scale without effort, provide exported data parsers for all defined sources, and apply efficient matching techniques. More than a research project, it is a chance to contribute to the Deezer product by designing a solution that would be integrated and directly available to end users.
The intern is supervised by research scientists and research engineers from the Deezer Research team who provide practical and scientific help with the performed task. The intern is nonetheless encouraged to propose solutions and work autonomously. For data experiments, Deezer ensures cutting edge technology and appropriate calculus power.
Master student in software engineering with interest for research-oriented solution.
Excellent programming skills, mostly preferred in Python, but we are open to other technologies too
Good knowledge in relational database, document indexing, natural language processing, and algorithms
Knowledge in distributed systems, and container-based architecture is a plus
Knowledge in web based UI with modern frameworks
