Job Description

Join the Messaging & Ads team, where we build and maintain the services powering Deezer’s ad delivery and CRM communications. From in-app messages and push notifications to emails, we ensure the right message reaches the right user at the right time. We work closely with the Ads Operations and CRM teams to support Deezer’s global engagement and monetization strategy.

This team is part of the Customer & Monetization startup — a product and engineering unit focused on maximizing user conversion, retention, and monetization across the full user journey: from first app open, to account creation, subscription, and renewal. Our goal is to deliver fast, smooth, secure, and delightful experiences at every step.

As an Android Technical Expert, you’ll contribute both directly to our Messaging & Ads team and more broadly across the startup as a technical leader, across three key missions:

Stack Expert & Mentor

  • Guide Android engineers within the Customer & Monetization startup to grow their expertise and align on stack best practices.

  • Ensure technical alignment and cohesion within the Customer & Monetization Android team.

  • Foster collaboration and cohesion through dedicated rituals and knowledge-sharing sessions.

  • Help teams adopt modern Android development standards.

Technical Lead & Strategist

  • Represent the startup in the global Android Community of Practice at Deezer.

  • Own the startup’s Android roadmap, driving initiatives to improve quality, reliability, and maintainability.

  • Be the go-to technical point of contact to arbitrate architectural decisions and lead cross-functional projects.

  • Oversee deployments and define monitoring strategies and technical metrics to ensure performance and reliability.

Individual Contributor & Builder

  • Design and deliver innovative features within the Messaging & Ads team (e.g., ad experiences, CRM tooling).

  • Contribute to broader initiatives like CDP integrations, survey tools, and experimentation frameworks.

  • Write clean, scalable, and high-performance code, with a strong focus on user experience.

 

Qualifications

We’d love to work with someone who has:

  • 5+ years of experience developing and maintaining Android applications at scale.

  • Deep knowledge of Kotlin and Android frameworks, including Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, and modern architecture patterns.

  • A strong grasp of software craftsmanship: clean architecture, testing strategies, and performance optimization.

  • Experience working with large codebases and scaling apps to millions of users.

  • Familiarity with tools like GraphQL, Jenkins (CI/CD), and debugging/performance profiling tools.

  • Bonus: experience with Apollo, RxJava, ExoPlayer, KMP, or Google Ads Manager.
